Does anyone have issues with their lovelife, Marriage, kids, pets..... whatever? JUST ASK! I will be understanding, sympathetic, honest, and fair. I am having some trouble starting topics of interest. I could start discussions about religion & politics... I'm sure they would generate a ton of replies. I'd rather not have to start controversial threads though. I'd much rather create the feeling of 'community' amongst us. We can have different opinions, beliefs, backgrounds, life-styles, ethnicities, ages, sexes... you get the idea...the point is, we can still come together as a community to counsel (advise) others.... so, let's prove it!

Almost old thread MySpot! Though I'm surprised you haven't had more takers, judging on the advice you just gave you should be working as an agony aunt!

I see, you mean like a "Dear Abby" column. That's funny because I was going to name this thread "Dear myLot Abby", but didn't think everyone would get it. I love it. That's how I got interested in myLot and Yahoo!Answers. Thanks again.

Agony Aunt is generally used in reference to someone who'll answers another problems. I believe it started in newspapers where people would write in to have their problems solved.

Don't you hate when that happens? We all get stumped sometimes with trying to start new topics. My best tip is: that it's best to write them down when you think of one while off-line ; ) If you read a really interesting article, scroll to the bottom and look for the copyright symbol (a c with a circle around it) or a lot of times it will state: copyright free or something of that nature... that means it's free game to share with the myLot community! It's probably easiest to start topics of your interest (or from them) because it's already something you enjoy, have an opinion on, or can help others with. Sometimes, I get ideas from others' topics... either it lights a spark for a new topic or maybe I have another angle for discussing it ; ) It's not cheating if you make it your own... there are many sub-topics to start! If all else fails, it's probably easier and faster to just reply to topics. Unless you start a lengthy and interesting discussion ~ I'm not sure it pays better, so why sweat it? It seems you are doing just fine but if you'd like to use any of my tips ~ they're all yours now!

What a wonderful idea MySpot and although this is an old discussion it caught my eye, so to speak. I am quite surprised that there weren't many takers wanting all sorts of advice here, but I guess they are too busy starting their own topics on such things. LOL My question is fairly simple really for someone so wise as you are MySpot. Why do myLot allow people to start inane discussions on toothpaste brand, shampoo, soap as well as hair colour, eye colour etc? For example it is believed that we are paid on the quality of our response, which is why lots of people are now posting really long responses which in no way relate to the topic of discussion, so if I chose to respond to the types of discussions mentioned I could take a couple of paragraphy to respond and make a fortune. What do you think and do you have any suggestions?
