What do you think...will the world finally sink in the water due to the increase in the level of water and the continous melting of the ice bergs. this is a serious discussion to talk on.....let me know what do you guys think!!!

The geological and cosmic time scale is too large compared to our life span, so anything is possible that we will not know. As far as I am concerned about the global warming, I feel that global warming could be a big problem. I also feel that the place where I live is not as cold as it used to be when i was small. maybe due to more settlement also, but that too can add to global warming. And if the earth warms, then it is obvious that the ice caps on the poles will melt that will rise the sea level. In fact, small rise of sea levels have been recorded. And, unless some other naturl phenomenon change the course or we respond positively to the situation, the adverse effects of global warming are inevitable.

the sea levels have not noted a small rise in their increase, it is that the sea level is increasing half of one/tenth inch a day which will indeed be harmful atleast not for us but for our next generation which is still a matter of concern....

The melting ice caps will eventually engulf a lot of the land, but it won't engulf all of it. There isn't enough ice to do that. What I see happening is as carbon dioxide eats away more and more of the ozone layer, the faster the ice caps will melt. In turn, the heat will continue to increase because the ozone cannot block it anymore. Eventually, over many, many years, possibly thousands, the heat will become too unbareable to fiesably survive. All of mankind, animals and bacterias will die. There will be an end to life. Lucky for us, it definitely won't be happening in our lifetime.

I think parts of the earth will be swallowed by water.

well, it's not parts of the earth which will get swallow. who will swallow it any ways!! The coastal areas will get submerged under water and there will be not enough land to dwell on!!

Dont know if we wil all end up being drowned but I do believe we are having a negitive impact on the earth and it need not be so. We should all be saving energy and recycling where we can. take a look at www.carbonfootprint.com and see what a difference each person can make by doing one simple "green" thing a day.

i think its gonna happen.slowly but surely.already the sea-level is rising by a good amount.by another 20-30 years most of the coastal citites would be under water.that includes New-York,London,Mumbai etc. We have 2 act now to stop this from happening.otherwise there is a certain impending disaster awaiting us

well ya global warming is one of the worlds greatest problems that should be taken care of as soon as possible. it consists of very ill efects that r too dangerous n drastic. But nowadays its awareness is spreading up fast n due to this many scientists r researching to suppress it n r coming up wid different results as solar powered cars, hydro fueled cars , more n more usage of filters in chimneys in industries, upgradations in engines to make them more eco-friendlyn many other steps ......... so keeping these things in mind i think man will take control over the situation before the situations become worst n take several steps to rectify the mistakes we have already done. Although they wouldnt be fully succesfull in making conditions normal but would be able to save many lives that r expected to lost in this scenario .. so the land wouldnt sink that much that r expected to be. As global warming has its own good effects like helping in survival at very cold areas n during night times ... it wouldnt be eradicated but be controlled.

I recently saw a DVD which contains a presentation given by Algore on Global Warming and how serious it is. By the end of it I was so overwhelmed that we are facing a grave danger in the future and we should take measures in our own way to help. I would suggest everybody who reads this to go to www.climatecrisis.com There is a list of things which we,as common people, can do to help. The main issue is the alarming increase of Carbon dioxide in the atmosphere and as a result increase int he temp and hence the melting of major ice caps at the North Pole. If corrective measures aren't taken now then without a doubt a lot many places in the world will be submerged under water..including Manhattan,NY. The DVD was very enlightening and today's youth should watch it to educate themselves. Many of them know very vaguely what "global warming" is. The DVD is called "The Inconvenient Truth".
