Terrorism

Most part of the world didn't know what the terrorism or how it look like to be a victim of it. But the 9/11 changed the world and now the whole world is crying about terrorism. It is not that one fine morning it started. It was here for quite some time and we Indians are experiencing it for the last 3 decades. But still we never raised our arms against the Pak other than to protect our selves. But a multi-storeyed building and the lives of a few hundred people enabled the Americans to attack a country. Remember we have lost hundreds of thousands of lives to terrorism, including our two previous Prime Ministers. Present world's terrorism has the face of Islam, which is absolutely wrong, as the saying now a days that all the muslims are not terrorists but all the terrorists are muslims. It is not the terrorist that we have to get rid of but root cause of terrorism, which i think is poverty, which helps a few of fanatic billioniers.

First you make a very big flaw by saying "a few hundred people." I don't think you understand exactly how important those "two buildings" were in America. In any given day there were thousands of people in EACH building. This doesn't include all of the people on all of the air planes. But we can ignore this error in your logic and move onto another point you made. Secondly, America is a proudful nation. Take that however you want, it has both pros and cons, and we will continue to be a proud nation. We stand up for ourselves and protecting ourselves, just because we don't take crap like other contries makes us a victim of criticism. Also, you claim that poverty is the reason for terrorism? I would love to hear how you came to this conclusion. Because you are living in poverty and feel like blowing things up doesn't mean everyone else is. It's a known fact that the terrorist attacks that were taken on 9/11 were a result of a religious faith, having nothing to do with poverty. Poverty is a big problem in the world, but because other countries don't stand up for themselves they are forcing their own people to live like this. Thanks for posting though, I enjoyed it very much.

I dont get the poverty thing. Poverty causes terrorism. But there are so many people in poverty that are not terrorists..only the muslims are terrorists. So that means the only people in poverty are muslim terrorists? umm makes NO sense. They do it b/c they learn from both that if you are not muslim you deserve to DIE.

how could one say that only muslims are terrorist. the biggest terrorist in the world live right here in Washington D.C. Think of all the people/countries America has terrorized throughout history. Terrorism has nothing to do with poverty.. Terrorists come in different races, ethnic groups, religions etc.

Dear Bhutto and dreadstar, both of you are not getting the point which I mean in this debate. dreadstar, please don't allow your mind to be occupied by such a hatred towards one section of the society, they are also human being like rest of us, even though each of us believe in different gods. A few of them (considerably a small lot) whom we call fanatics act against the total society doesn't mean that we should hate all of them. We should get rid of the terrorism, not the terrorist because once we get rid of the terrorism automatically the terrorist cease to exist. We should find out the root cause, that is the only treatment, but under the pretext of eradicating terrorism, the Bush Administration, took the antiadvantage of the situation and tried to remove their arch rival Saddam, who cannot be called a terrorist, what he has done is within his own country, and let us not get into those details. What Bush doing is wrong. Let the America realise it, and impeach Bush and install a new President who is a bit more humane.

Terrorism has been around for centuries. It might never go away, but maybe it will be under control at some point. Terrorism should never be tagged to being part of any specific group only. It comes in many forms. Hardest violence to protect from.

I have a very different opinion. The word 'terrorism' was coined after the twin towers were razed. It was a huge loss both in terms of thousands of - i repeat - thousands of innocent humans as also destruction of buildings with all the assets etc. It is horrible even to think of the destruction but more horrible that humans whom we call terrorists today could have had the grit to commit such horrendous crime. It was a loss not for America alone but for the whole world. And to say that terrorism always existed amounts to blinking eyes without a nod. Terrorism germinated gradually and the seed was sawn with the Iranian revolution under Khomeini that started a fanatic regime that saw many innocent persons, VIPs and Public Figures butchered, jailed, tortured and maimed. This got reflected in the Taliban era as well, where too much harm was done on innocent humans. The word terrorism would have been confined to the dictionary had the ‘first guilt been nipped in the bud’ the moment it germinated. Iraq is an example about which we today say in ‘hushed whispers’ that US failed. I say, no, US has not failed. US did not receive support where and when needed from the entire world. There were nations and countries (should I say China, Russia etc) which went on dilly dallying with the idea of whether to back US or not. Even in case of voting at the UN these countries were never unanimous against the rogue countries like Iran, Iraq, Afghanistan (under the Taliban) etc. US never failed in Iraq but that one wee decision went wrong. That Saddam stood emboldened and made the UN inspectors shuttle back and forth trying to assert his own supremacy, which made US suspect that WMD did exist. Had he been more sincere and even agreed to go in to exile, it would not have been Iraq but Iran in the dock. Failed decision because of the brute force with which Saddam stood up against the world. I leave all that behind. Terrorism needs to be contained by a united world, but it is near to impossible to get the world come together. Some countries for their own reasons are under compulsion not to back decisions taken by the US. And these countries never make an initiative also. Terrorism is the handiwork of a few, yes just a few who are dying to dye to assert themselves as heros. It is not poverty also that is driving people to take to killing. It is just the lack of attitude among the people. Anger, hatred, revenge have all got man in the grip of some complex that one is not able to compromise with reality, the problems others are facing, unable to cope with others’ shortcomings etc etc. And individuals, states, countries and nations stand up to defend their own prestige while the uneducated and unscrupulous elements learn to twist such a situation to their own benefit and the result is ‘antagonism’ and today this antagonism has spread and that too without any aim in view. A corrupt synomym of ‘antagonism’ is terrorism.

Terrorism is a term used to describe violence or other harmful acts committed (or threatened) against civilians by groups or persons for political, nationalist, or religious goals. As a type of unconventional warfare, terrorism means to weaken or supplant existing political landscapes through capitulation, acquiescence, or radicalization, as opposed to subversion or direct military action."Terrorist attacks" usually are characterized as "indiscriminate", the "targeting of civilians", or as executed "with disregard for human life". The term "terrorism" often is used to assert that the enemy's political violence is immoral, wanton, and unjustified. Per the most common definition of terrorism — typically used by states, academics, counter-terrorism experts, and civil, non-governmental organizations —, "terrorists" are actors who do not belong to any recognized armed forces or who don't abide the laws of war, and who, therefore, are regarded as "rogue actors". Those labelled "terrorists" rarely identify themselves so and, instead, typically use terms referring to their ideological or ethnic struggle, such as: separatist, freedom fighter, liberator, revolutionary, vigilante, militant, paramilitary, guerrilla, rebel, jihadi or mujaheddin, or fedayeen, or any similar-meaning word in other languages. Terrorism has been used by a broad array of political organizations in furthering their objectives; both right-wing and left-wing political parties, nationalistic, and religious groups, revolutionaries and ruling governments.[1]Some persons and governments believe that the term "Terrorism", as defined in dictionaries, now has a negative connotation, under the theory that a person who attacks the civilian population is, instead, a militant, regardless of the status of the victims of terrorism.

The commonly accepted meaning of the word terrorism is any use of terror in the form of violence or threats meant to coerce an individual, group, or entity to act in a manner in which any person or group could not otherwise lawfully force them to act. The world community has struggled with creating a legal definition of terrorism that is globally accepted. In the United States, terrorism is broken down into two categories. The first category is international terrorism, and the second is domestic terrorism. The main characteristics of acts or threats that constitute terrorism are the same as in the wider definition above, but additional details have been added. Both categories include violent acts or any actions that endanger human life or violate U.S. laws, both federal and state. The definition further clarifies that these acts appear to be intended to intimidate or coerce civilians – collectively - or to intimidate or coerce changes in governmental policy or government conduct through the use of mass destruction, assassination, or kidnapping. The main difference between the two definitions of terrorism is the inclusion under international terrorism that clarifies criminal violations as those that would be construed as such if committed in U.S. federal or state jurisdiction. The other distinction describes where acts of terrorism occur. International terrorism occurs primarily outside the “territorial jurisdiction” of the United States, and domestic terrorism primarily occurs within U.S. jurisdiction.

Terrorism involves extraordinary violence. It is intended to create massive fear and involves a planned attack for a purpose, often against something or someone. Terrorism is meant to have an audience. The differences between various terrorist attacks involve the people, purpose, and how it is carried out. Unfortunately terrorism is the new kind of wars, have a great day on mylot!

Yeh we don't know exactally what is terrorism. If killing is terrorism then Bush is a bigh Terrorist because he killed millions people in Afganistan and Iraq war. Why bush was more intrested in making Afganistan under him instead of catching Osama? Today after 6 years how come America world super power could not able to catch Osama? How can we you agree Osama Bin Laden is a terrorist and attacked on World Trade Center without seening any evidence? Do you believe in internet vidoes? that they claim for that? I can made thousands videos like that. even any one could do it easily. All right still i agreed with you as u said Osama is terrirost then .... What happend in IRAQ? Why Bush were more intrested in Iraq instead of Chemical weapons? If he haven't found chemical weapons then what is War for? Actaully terrorism is just an issue for making worlds fool and play with their emotions and get personal benifits for that.
