Some experts believed that the peak oil issue will accelerate into the decline of our civilization as we know it today. Can alternative fuels replace our dependence on oil? Is our civilization really prepared for the post-oil scenario ?

I do not believe it will be the decline if our civilization works hard on its studies and research and puts into effect, alternate fuels before we are out. There are many communities world wide functioning on alternate fuels and different types of oil, and many things in regular community functioning well... People have lived on many types of fuel sources, for thousands of years, and they will continue to find new sources and adapt as time goes on. As a whole, No. I do not believe that our entire civilization is ready, But I do believe there there are enough people within our civilization that are, and that can help to keep our civilization on its feet. The Key is to start implementing alternative things into mainstream lifestyles, before.... the Oil Peak... or.. then it will be a disaster for awhile. - DNatureofDTrain
