I would like to know if you are into tracing your family tree. I enjoy finding my ancestors. It helps me know who I am. We are all unique and yet we get our genes from our ancestors.

I enjoy finding ancestors too. I've been searching for 10 years and have lots of brick walls, but that doesn't stop me from chipping away.

Good for you! I have had some road blocks, too, but just keep stumbling on. Where are your ancestors from? Mine are from Eng., Scotland, and Sweden

I am doing research in the South, too. My ancestors settled in Greensboro N.C. Some of them migrated to Miss. and then to Minn. My grandma and Grandpa ended up in Calif! What are you stuck on?

I can see how that would be difficult. Have you tried familyhistory.org? They have a lot of different countries in their files.

Right! ancestry costs a lot, though. Try familysearch.org or roots.com. They are free

By starting with what you know, join up to sites like ancestry.com www.genesreunited.com

I love looking at my family history to find out things like who we were and are related to. it is interesting. My Uncle though is the family tree guy though he is doing all sorts of research and doing all the leg work so we can enjoy the outcome of his hard work. we have several family history books but my uncle is wanting to look even farther than the information in them..we even have a family site he made up so we all can go and look at stuff and pictures and keep the family up to date on the things going on in our lives now. It's nice. Well good luck in digging up the info you need for finding your ancestors..

It is noval, but If someone does the work for me regarding this aspect, i'll show interest to learn about my ancestors, but I will not take the trouble. BEsides my family has been in Kakinada and Chirala since ages, my forefathers were very great and all, landlords, some are even kings......!!!!!

My mother is trying to do the family tree now. She is getting stuck on her mothers side. It amazes me how that generation never spoke (maybe this was just my family, I am not sure). I guess my grandmother has no idea what her grandmother or grandfathers names were. She also has no idea where her father was from. I tried to help her but it was like smacking my head against a wall. I would love to know more now than ever before. I guess it interests me when there is an obstacle to overcome.

Try to find a record of your grandmother's birth. That should tell the names of her parents. Try familysearch.org.

I looked at the site. My ancestors came from England, but I couldn't find them listed (I live in the US). I will go back to it, though. There must be something there. I would like to trace more of my ancestors back to their homelands.

I'm trying to find information on my mom's family, but the problem I run into is we think the fmaily changed names when they came to America from Ireland. So I'm not sure if the name I have is remotely close to what it should be.

I like to dabble in genealogy. It gets hard though when you discover that many of your ancestors changed the spelling of their names when they immigrated. If you know of any good genealogy sites I would be interested in knowing them. Thanks.

Start with the things I have mentioned above. Then, if the older ones die,at least you have their record and rememberances.

My Auntie has been doing research for a number of years now. Its suprising to know the names of some of our anccestors and what they actually got up to eg - prison etc i think she has managed to trace up to the 1600's.

The only thing I know that is on my mothers side we are; Irish, Cherokee Indian, Asian, and Africian. On my fathers side there is: Mandingo Africian tribe, Indian, and white. But, I don't know how to trace it at all. God Bless

I LOVE genealogy. In fact it is a sickness with me. It is amazing to see what traits are passed down from generation to generation. My family has a really strong Dutch heritage. My husbands family have been in the US for much longer. Both lineages offer something different in the hunt!!

My Grandpa did this and traced his side of the family back to one of the convicts who came to Australia from England....also found out that my ancestor worked for one of the famous Australian discoverers
