I think dogs are better than hampsters. I had a hampster it's name was Pretzel. He was nice but, the fagit bit alot! So I let it die of starvations. Just kidding, I gave it away to my little neice. Guess what? It didn't bite her at all. That make's me mad. LOL! :D

Well hamsters would be a lot easier to take care of, as they don't require as much personal attention and they can be left alone for longer periods at a time. I still think that dogs make a better pet for me because of the affection they give and the special greeting they give us when we walk through the door after a long day. Not to mention the fact that we can take our dogs with us and they love doing the things that we do (like tossing a frisbee around or swimming in the lake).

I like both. I have a dog that plays with my hampster. Every time the hampster gets out the dog is right there playing with her and if you let them they will play for a while.

I love hampsters, I think they are a good alternative if you can't have a dog. I love dogs too, but they need so much more care, like if you leave town, you have to get to hire a kennel or someone to watch your dog, with a hampster you just leave plenty of food and water and they will be fine.
