so i just read the latest issue of TIME magazine and it had a very interesteing article in about the word (keep in mind im not a rcasist by any means)n igger.now in the article which in case was written by an african-american jurnalist, he talks about the possiblity of erradicating the word.he discusses how in books such as the adventures of huck fin how they use the word when refering to the slave jim, or as in the book hes called n igger jim.it never accured to me that that was his name in the book after reading the book in grade scholl or junoiur high and then later realizing it made it to the banned books list now i know why.he also talks of films depicting young black men as ignorant or country which in the decades the films were made i guess they hadnt really placed themselves in the civil rights movement.what im tryin to say is that it was a great article and oppse the word and everyone should all do the same .no one likes to degraded by race gender class or ethnicity.i find it degrading to be called white trash eventhough im far from it.so feel free to comment and do whatever please by any means this is not a discussion to offend anyone an di did so by posting i truly apologize.

You have not offended me. But to comment on the Huck Finn book- I don't think they should have black listed the book- it depicts the state of America at that time- We should not hide what is history and the culture of the time. I think it is educational and should be prefaced with the fact that this is how things were then- not what is going on now! Are they going to black list all of the books that refer to black people as colored? As for the eradication of this word---how can they--I mean if we do shouldn't there be a call to erradicate all offensive terms- the most popular as of this past week is the word "FA__OT" where Ann Coulter has chosen to poke fun at political figures and suggest that using the term calls for one to go to rehab ( The whole Isaiah Washington-shenanigan)
