Reconnecting with those you went to high school with

One of the main reasons I love myspace is the connections I get have with old classmates. Mind you I never was one for attention or talking much in school. But with being able to use the internet to talk to them and get to know them more is helping me so much. I was very pleasently surprised last night when one person that I thought wouldn't even accepting me as a friend did and then we messeged back and fourth the whole night. It was a very nice thing. Its funny how people can surprise you sometimes. Some I notice are still as snobby as ever, but some seem to have really changed and are much more open to people. How do you reconnect with old classmates? Are the same as they were then or do they surprise you too?

I never thought of using myspace to connect with people that way. I have an account there but never use it. I don't really get any contact with the people I went to school with as I didn't graduate with them, so I can't go to class reunions. I was bad and dropped out but I did go on to get my GED.

Well at least you got your GED And hey you never know who you might find on there! I say go check it out. I wasn't really friends with anyone from school either...am just "trying" to bridge some relationships cause well it would be kind of nice. hehe

I used to use myspace but could never get anyone to communicate with me other than the ladies that wanted me to check them get naughty on their webcams. Never saw anyone on there from my high school days or any other days. I had no luck with that site. I would rather use classmates.com for trying to find my mates from high school.

I have been in connect with some of them... They probably think that I have changed if they got to know me now. I used to be nice and fun, but now I am kinda a jerk. I don't really care to be social with anyone.

As long as I can make someone feel better about themself I am accomplishing my goal.

Isn't interesting how I keep getting better and you're just getting worse and worse??! LOL. One of my favorite things about you is that you really are a jerk and that makes me feel better about myself, "At least I'm not as big of a jerk as Dooley!" Well, maybe I'm not getting all that much better!

I was a bit of a snob from 5th grade to 10th grade and had a few lapses back into snob-hood during the upper grades of high school. Actaully I was super-evil at times. Any way I wish I could meet up with some of my classmates that I acted so ugly to. I think with age and maturity (and for me, a relationship with Christ) comes the realization that people's feelings are more important than popularity. I would really like to apologize to a lot of people.

A bit of a snob?? Wait I didn't know you then... but now that I do know you, I don't think that your old classmates would hold a grudge against you.

Long time ago, I have seen talk shows where people didn't forgive the people they went to school with. I was not mean at school...in fact, I was the one that was nice to everyone and was on the receiving end of the meanies. LOL But honestly, I do not hold a grudge against those people. And I think it matters more who you grew up to be. And from what I have seen, you are a wonderful person and mother. So, I think you would probably be ok come a reunion. :)

Its a always a funny thing, but not easy to reconnect mates in high school. We now only have partial gathering on the 10th or 20th anniversary. As many classmates are located everywhere here in China.

Funny you should mentioned reconnecting with old high school class mates. I guess I was one of those snobby girls in high school, because the guy I am in a relationship with now and me went to high school together. We didn't hang around together in high school or anything maybe we said like 3 words together the whole time we were in high school, but I found him on myspace and we started talking and now we are together. it's amazing ain't it (oh i am not snobby anymore hehehe)

ya...true! to be honest i am a person who lost touch with friendz...schoolmates for a long time. years passed, i finished college, stared workin...n then once i came acroos orkut and started meetin my old schoolmates... u would not believe it but it is the best feeling in life.. i came across 80% of my classmates in orkut and started to keep in touch with them. I was foolish to lose touch at the first place! n now after so many years it is nice to see that people do remember you and now our bonds are strong. Thanks to orkut! and community like mylot to keep us all in touch.

I ran into a classmate at the grocery store recently after about 20 years. We all move to different states, and I must say she has put on a lot of weight. She was about a size 4 in high school.

I've seen a few people from my class when in town but I don't really speak to them much. It doesn't really bother me though as I hated school and the majority of my class weren't much better.

........searching for friends - classmates
that is great!!. i do have an account in myspace but i hardly reconnected with my classmates, may be i never tried to customise and search. i would do that now. it's really nice knowing classmates coming close after years and get to know each other more intently than they actually did being so close together in school!! it's amazing how internet connects ppl?? even i have reconnectd with my pals from high schools thro' namesdatabase. it works great and have an excellent search engine. thanx for the post

High School Yearbook - .GIF image of a random high school yearbook cover
You know, I've never really gone looking for old friends from high school. It's not that I didn't really have any good friends or that I don't care what's happening to them now, because I do on both counts. But I guess I don't think of high school very often. I think I'm too busy living in the present to think too much about the past. That said, I think I would like to know about friends from high school, or even junior high. I don't have a MySpace (nor do I want one!) or an account at places like Classmates.com, but maybe I'll look into it and see if it looks interesting. Thanks for the food for thought! ~Wyrdsister
