Martin was a very good player for sure and i don't think he decided to retire on himself.I think it might be because of the external pressure that he had to retire all of a sudden and this also effected in announcing retirement of shane and even mcgrath also for sure...so, whatever happened will hit australian cricket hard

I have not seen anything too marvelous from him for a long time. Happy to see him retire. Yes he had some fine performances for Australia - well and truly time to go...Especially with so many good cricketers around in Australia!

Damien Martyn is a good player but he never recieved the credit that much.he has produced a whole bunch of good innings for australia. When he entered the game he was an all-rounder and bowled a lot better than he batted.and then he turned into a batsman and batted a lot well then what he used to do as a allrounder.though he didnot have dominance but still he was good enuff. I think he can still play a lot of cricket.he is not that old to get retired. I think it is the right decision if he was losing interest in the game.but still he can play more.he is one of the most silent cricketers around the world today.and obviously cricket is a gentlemans game.

v r no one to judge that....retiring from international cricket is a difficult decision for anyone and everyone...and martyn might have weighed his options before taking this drastic decision...and i get a feeling he came to know that he was going to be dropped in the next match...though australian authorities have said this wasn't the case.... its his lyf ultimately and i am sure even this decision will work in his favour in the coming future...if he's not satisfied n lacks the hunger for playing in the baggy green....as he said after retiring...i think it was over for him and a gud decision following his heart...

he felt that he was no longer interested in the game and decided it was time to move on , he was a great player for Australia and he will be missed

I dont know weather his decission was good or bad. But i feel it is Aussie style of Playing the game, or shall i say retire, I think maximun of Aussie palyers have retired when they were scoring runs freely, there was never any pressure on any players to retire, but They Retire in STYLE.
