There are many antivirus programs and I heard that some of the free ones are as good and safe as the ones you have to pay for. Can you suggest me a good free antivirus program?

I had bad experiences with Norton. Didnt't detect all viruses althrough promply updated (when I first installed NOD32 it cleaned up some things not found by Norton!), it takes very long for a complete system scan (abt. 2 hourse, where NOD32 took me 32minutes to do the same), and it takes a lot CPU.

The best antivirus is YOU. Remember that. You download any virus and execute it, so be careful and only download from trusted sites. And You are free,.
For free antivirus software programs, I assume you mean Windows viruses. Use Active Virus Shield from AOL (uses the Kaspersky engine) or AntiVir Personal. Avast is also good, and cool looking. AVG comes after them. at least as far as the current virus detection rates go. Check out the AV website.
