What to say about Raveendra sangeetham? This is really amazing.Raveendran master was a musical legend who made exceptional creations with in a very short time and passed away when he was in the top among all the music directors whom the music lovers had ever seen.He was a native of Kulathoopuzha and he was a small singer in his schooldays and his trade mark is his high pitch voice in singing in schooldays.His parents and all others understood his interest in music and ability to sing amazingly.So he joined music class or academy to learn music. he finished his academy course in music and started to sing in films.But Yesudas was ruling the film music industry at that time and he didn't get much opportunities to sing in the film music.At that time his life condition was very pity and he was yesudas's friend and yesudas gave the essential necessities at that time. Raveendran master composed many song at that time and yesudas also know his ability of composing songs. So once yesudas introduced raveendran master as a music director to a producer and suggested him as the music director for that film.He agreed to pay if there is any loss for the producer in bringing Raveendran master through his film.And that was the beginning of the greatest musical legend.He composed for the film,which is his first film as a music director. the film was Choola.He composed the song called "Tharake mizhiyithalil". That was an amazing song and he started his account there with a bright star Tharake.It became a big hit and his style of music was the one in which the music lovers are eagerly waiting for. He did many other great films like His highness abdulla,Bharatham,Aaram thampuran,Mazha,Soorya gayathri,Lal salam,Mazhayethum mumpe,Amaram,Vishnu,Vishnulokam,Venkalam,Vadakkum Nathan,Nandanam,Champakkulam Thachan,Arayannangalude veedu,Abhimanyu,Rajasilpi,kizhakkunarum pakshi,Ayal kadhayezhuthukayanu,Marikkunnilla Njan,Oru maymasappulari,Aham,thachiledathu chundan,Thenum vayambum etc etc.lots of great compositions.His biggest asset was that he had could sing whatever he used to compose and the singer did not have to produce a rabbit out of thin air at any time! He was perhaps the only music director of his era other than Johnson who had a stamp of his own right from Choola to Vadakkumnathan and did not play tune to changing times like others did.Even though he was known to change his opinions about people faster than he would make them, he never for once lost his identity in any of his songs. His songs will continue to be headaches for singers who perform them on stage and no music directors would dare to copy his style of heavy orchestration. The vocal tracks of his songs would stand on its own as tall pillars without any orchestra. You could sing any of his songs just with the backing drone of a Tanpura and still the songs would stand tall.He went unrecognized for all his powerful, reverberating music. Many a times music lovers wondered why he did not get the state awards and National awards as many times he ought to have, while lesser mortals did. He was bluntly ignored many times. Was it due to his unique character or utter disregard for the awards?His personal life was not too happy towards the end. When I met him recently at his flat at Cochin, he seemed a defeated man and was not in his self. He was sad that many whom he considered to be close to him had not cared for him. Did he have a premonition of what would befall him? We would never know. Ravindran Master is such a big loss to malayalam film industry.All the great yesudas songs are composed by ravindran.And sadly theres no one to carry the legacy forward in todays music directors.Everyone believe that Ravindran’s hit songs are in H H Abdulla,Aramthampuran etc.As per me HIS songs in the films like ‘Thalam thettiya thaarattu’,'Tharattu’,'Ente nandinikkutty’,'BElt mathayi’,'Ithirippoove chuvannapoove’,'Omanikkan ormavaykan’,ETC,ETC are very much good than new songs.Pramadavanam veendum, thenum vayampum, ezhu swarangalum, Sree lathikakal, harimuraleeravam, ottakambi nadam….etc are all time hit and easy to listen but difficult to sing.The vaccuum created by the untimely demise of Ravindran does not seem to be filled very soon. His talent to mix up the classical notes with new tunes and melodies is peerless. A Song teamed by Yesudas & Ravindran is worth listening!!! .So atlast nobody can bear the unfortunate death of His Higness Ravindran master.We will pray for him
