National minimum wage

Recently in my English 101 class we were asked to write a paper in response to this prompt. " Why should the national minimum wage be raised?" When I started thinking about it, the question kind of seemed one sided. I mean what if I think the minimum wage shouldn't be raised? I know this sounds crazy, but I think minimum wage is a huge incentive to the working class. Now im not saying this because im some rich guy sitting in his mansion. Im actually a broke college student, and I have never had a job that pays more than minimum wage. I guess my point is, if a person really could make a living on minimum wage, less people would go to college and try to better themselves. What do you think?
