Interracial Sci Fi (BW/WM)

You know what I want to see more than anything in famous bookstores like Barnes & Noble and Borders, I want to see more interracial sci fi books with black women and white guys. Of course I say this because I'm married to a white guy and I'm really into IR novels or romances. I also want to see more positive role for black characters in things like Dungeon and Dragon. Black people are intersted into that stuff too. I can seriously think of an entire novel in my head but when it comes to typing it out it just takes too long. You know what someone should event, they should make a device that can make novels from your thoughts. Like put a head device on and let it be hooked up to a computer to transfer all our thoughts. Erase the ones we don't want. That would be cool. What do you think?

What do I think? I think you're reading my mind! I've been a fan of sci-fi and fantasy for as long as I've been able to read, and the first fantasy-based stories I ever read were multi-cultural, BW/WM specifically. It pains me to walk into XYZ Bookstore and peruse the aisles only to realize the sad truth: there are no Black folks in the future. Or on other planets. Or (hardly ever) on the cover alongside someone of a fairer skin tone. Often it seemed that unless the author's last name was Butler (rest her soul) you weren't going to find anything even remotely 'fantasical' with Black characters. Then there's the adage "If you want something done right..." I've also got tons of story ideas for what I like to think is an untapped market, but alas they're all gathering cyber dust on my hard drive! I do think the best way to let publishers know that there's an interest in this genre is to buy (and of course, read:) all the good stories, and maybe even write a few of our own. How's that for a challenge? Maybe that way one day we'll see more of what we want on the bookshelves. Here's to hope, anyway!
