I have a friend who loves to read romance novels. I personally dont really care for them too much. If they were more realistic then they would be ok. Just think who ever sees that guy on the white stallion anyway? share your ideas and opinions on what would make a good romance story?

Some romance novels are realistic, but you're right that most are not. HOWEVER that's not why I read them, they're my entertainment(I don't watch a lot of TV), and I don't want them to be too realistic, that's boring!

No, I don't think so - I am happy with who I am and who I'm with, although I do have to admit that I sometimes wish my husband displayed some of the more romantic characteristics of the male leads in the books(writing me poetry, bringing me flowers, taking me out on romantic getaways, giving me full body massages, etc, hehehe), I also realize that that is just not realistic in regards to real life(money, time, kids, etc.)

I have read some very good romance novels that are more realistic then others. Some historical romance authors do a lot of research into their books before writing. I agree the guy on the white horse that is perfect isn't realistic but there are some that make their men more human and realistic. To me those are the type I like to read.
