Should the gov't ban cigarette manufacturing?

"Cigarette smoking is dangerous to your health.". This is the goverment warning that usually appear on the cigarette package. It sounds that the government is concerned about the health of the people. Nice effort on the part of our government! But isn't it better if it will just ban the manufacturing of cigarettes. I think warning is not enough. We have to go to the deeper cause why people smoke. It's because somebody is manufacturing it. What do you think?

its not possible because if you have self control we can stop the smoking habit.

yeah, but then there are lots of people who REALLY want to smoke and won't give it up till they want to. I just hate the excuse people give for starting smoking: that they just want to try everything in the world. It's quite lame.

I think....it is a person's choice what they do to their bodies...the govt. can ban smoking in certain areas to prevent smokers from hurting others with second hand smoke, but to ban their creation would not go over very well....the govt. controls society in so many ways already..I for one did not sign up into following their rules when i was born...why the hell should they dictate life so much?...but I guess that sort of branches off into another rant and or subject...but really stopping the manufactuereing would not be so great a move...if people want to poison themselves and enjoy then let them, not the govt's business.

If the gov. bans it it will save so many people money and lives but a lot of people cant deal with it and will do anything to get it back.

I agree it is dangerous, so are so many other things, you can't ban everything, I think people will always find something that is bad for them to do and do it, so if you ban smoking they will just find something else to use.

No I don't think so, if people want to smoke they should be allowed to, freedom of choice must be kept, I am not a smoker but I still thnk people have the right to smoke if they want to.

Cigarettes - cigs
They never will. They get way too much kick back in various ways from the manufacturers. As they say, never bite the hand that feeds you!

It should be the responsibility of the individuals to not to smoke rather than banning the manufactures..

no way man, those who don't want smoke don't it and those want to let them ,banning will only rise to black marketing and loss of revenue for government .

I think it is a money-maker for the government, so they will never ban it. They post the warning to cover their butts (no-pun intended). It may also help them "sleep better" they can think I know millions are dying from smoking, but we warned them...

Since poor diet causes just as much health problems as smoking does, should we also ban all high fat foods? Why don't we cut road deaths by fitting all cars with a speed limiter to 55mph? Why don't we ban dangerous and extreme sports, after all, they kill off quite a few people? Since violent imagery might set off one or two weirdos, let's ban all films that didn't get a U certificate, and any game with a rating that isn't 3+

The public would just rebel against it and still do it. Like when they tried to ban alchohol
