When we sign up for AdSense, is it ok to add affiliate links and other ads, too?

I'm just a little confused.. and I want to do it right.. I'm new to Adsense, and affiliate programs.... I have ads on my page.. and I recently got approved by Adsense... should I take my other ads out?
