Why is a pizza box square and the pizza is round?

So you have a corner available to grab the first slice. Otherwise, the pizza would be pressed right up against the box.

not all are round but the box is cheaper to make square

It's easier to make a square box. It's also easier to carry a square box.

to put the packet of sauce and chips as some people provide and the square box are easy to be transported and do not slip out of the hands easily.

The pizza is round because of the traditional (hand-tossed) method of making pizza. The box is square because it is cheaper to produce square boxes than round boxes.

Simply because it's cheaper to manufacture and less time to assemble a square box. Besides if they started making them round, boxes for Sicilian pizza would become a special order item thus raising the price of a good Philadelphia Secilian Pie.
