What is your view on sequels?

Are they really a bad thing? Sequels improve over original games/movies most of the time and that's only a good thing for the consumer and the developers because of the increased popularity. I totally understand though when it comes to milking franchises.

It seems like most movie sequels are not as good as the originals. The exceptions are those that were written as a series such as Star Wars and Lord of the Rings. Games on the other hand seem to get better as the technology advances

I don't have a problem with sequels in regards to movies or video games but usually the sequels to movies are not as good as the original movies. There are some good sequels but not many. It is good for the developers since there will always be interest in sequels to games and even movies.
