The katana sword, its the best .Used by samurai's .It has a good balance and is very lethal if striked by even a beginner.Lovely sword with curve ,that remains my favourite.

True indeed, weaponry has changed with the discovery of metals. The traditional weapons could not of course match the strength of steel that is why the katana has been named as the ultimate weapon in Natgeo's Martial Arts Week. However, today you cannot practically carry a sword around town. So basically, you can use these stuffs in the training grounds only.

I've watched Natgeo's Kung Fu Killers last time. They featured top 10 of Kung Fu weapons. Amazingly, some domestic objects like chopsticks, fans and calligraphy pens turn into deadly weapons in the hands of the masters.

The master of my school has developed a self-defense system using a cane, which anyone can walk around with..and you'd be surprised what he can do with it. I think it's amazing what the human can do with proper training and control. Blows my freakin' mind!

I prefer using the 5 ft staff, not exactly sure of its name but it is the rarest of the staff family. I purchased mine from a vendor in Chinatown and it's made of rattan with the very beautiful burnt decorations in the haft. There are also erganomic? grips at the two ends of the staff which can also eb use to rip the flesh from an opponent. I am very proud of my staff and I believe it is the ultimate weapon for me. The ultimate weapon for any martial artist, though, of course is the oneness of his mind, body, and soul. Zen. That's what makes a true warrior.

We Filipinos call it "bangkaw" and it is also incorporated in the multi-style curriculum of Arnis. The blows it delivers is more powerful than the shorter stick since it's end has a greater rotational inertia since it is longer from the pivot. But I must say that it is not easy to handle as well and would not be quite handy than the kali.

True enough, I have seen some Combat Hapkido students doing a kali stick demonstration, using them dual weilded, and it was very good, the speed you can get going with those things was amazing. But control and oneness with the tool is more powerful than any center of inertia or physics, to me anyway.

for me the ultimate weapon for a martial artist is the tri-section-staff, and the nagi-nata(broad spear)for that you can deflect arrows and swords at the same time you can do high density slashes and sharp thrusts. and with that you can really perform a great dance combination like shishi-tatake(kai shinkageryu basic dancing combination)
