"An apple a day keeps doctor away." is a famous proverb. The origin of this proverb traced back to 1866, which reads," Eat an apple on going to bed,and you will keep the doctor from earning his bread. The simple meaning of the proverb is eat apple every day and cut down medical expenses. It may not be entirely true if it is analysed literally. If you ask a nutritionalist,he will tell you an apple cannot provide all the necessary vitamins and minerals to avoid diseases. But if you take the meaning of the proverb in general sense, it may be prevention is better than the cure. It means, if we spend small amounts on preventive measures, we can reduce medical expenses and we can keep the doctor away. Those who pay enough attention to hygiene and sanitary aspects, does not feel much to spend a little on keeping cleanliness. By doing so, the major infectuous disease can be avoided and free from huge medical bills and other complications. I think, an apple a day can indeed keep the doctor away.
