I was just wondering whether some of you out there might have spent or be spending Christmas alone. I have spent some Christmas Days with family(stressful), some with friends(enjoyable), and most with my hubby & children(sometimes stressful!) but have never had one alone. Last Christmas my friend decided it would be nice not having to go anywhere so she just stayed in her house watching lots of tv and relaxing. Phone was taken off the hook and she wouldnt answer her door. She then arranged to see family and friends over the next few days. She did this by choice and says she really enjoyed it but we all felt very sad as it didnt feel right that she was all alone. She had loads of offers but really wanted to stay home alone.Do you ever spend Christmas alone. Is it by choice or do you not feel comfortable anywhere else.

I think that if you were looking for a day of complete rest then Christmas Day would be a perfect day to do it. There's very little traffic on the road, everywhere is shut down. The peace is lovely. It would be great to be able to do something like that and I think she probably did enjoy it. Don't the rest of us look forward to Stephen's Day to be able to relax after the hustle and bustle of Christmas? I know I do.

I think your friend must be my husband's sister. She never goes anywhere for Christmas even though we always ask her to join us. I could never spend Christmas alone. I need to be with my family, otherwise I would be miserable.
