Teachers' payrate

Teachers starting off get paid horridly for the services they provide. When they are starting they are still learning and make a lot of mistakes. They also deal with situations most parents couldn't handle (20 screaming kids in one room). As they are there a while, they work up into a very nice retirement but the payrate still isn't that great for the amount of value they are adding to a setting. This is especially true for public school teachers. How can we adjust the system to support the starting teachers more? How should we adjust the payrates? Are you willing to pay the increased taxes that would be required? Everyone agrees it is a problem, but can/will we fix it?
