I have used virgin mobile prepaid phone for years now you can buy them from stores like Wal-Mart or KMart and then you buy the top up card which is 20.00,30.00 or 50.00.You don't have to go through any credit checks with it and you can either top up when you want or get on a plan and top up with at least a 50.00 card a month thats what i do it works great.

no, they don't run your credit when you are getting a prepaid phone since you are giving them the cash in advance.

nope. they dont' check for your past postpaid history. it's a different thing. you can start using your prepaid phone as soon as you want to.

I went through that several years back. I had bad credit and needed a cell phone. I got a GO Phone, by ATT. They didn't check my credit, but did require a bank account/debit card, in order for them to deduct the monthly fee. I never had any problems with the GO phone. It was a great plan for me. I don't have it anymore, because I don't need a cell phone now, but if I did, I would still go with them.

My mom walked into Dollar General and bought a tracfone...no questions asked. She has to buy minutes periodically, but there was no credit check or any type of paperwork to fill out. The minutes do cost more than if you had a cell plan, but for her, she comes out better because the phone is for emergencies only.
