IN most people’s minds, industrial parks consist of gray concrete factory buildings and workers in suits, but a new industrial park in Daya Bay in Huizhou offers more than that. The Shizhi International (Daya Bay) Hi-tech Industrial Park is home to not just modern factories, but also a sports ground, large areas of greenery, Western food restaurants, bars and even a golf course. The park, covering an area of 50,000 square meters near the country’s biggest joint venture project, the US$4.46 billion Nanhai Petrochemical Project, is expected to be completed this month. Chen Maochan, chairman of the park’s developer, Shenzhen Shizhi Industry Development Co., said it is targeting multinationals looking for expansion or relocation sites in China. In fact, it could be the nation’s first industrial park only open to multinationals.
