Maybe the best bowler of all time has just announced his retirement from international cricket at 37 years old. As an Australian I'm sad to see him go as he has been a fantastic player for us no matter what he has done off field....he's called his career a wonderful ride!

Yes it is a little sad but as he said it is about knowing when to go, and obviously he feels that the time to do so is now. Also Glenn McGrath and now Justin Langer too has announced that he will be retiring from test matches after this last one in Sydney. The good thing about it is that we have a lot of upcoming cricketers who have not had a chance to play much, simply because these others were still good. Maybe they will not replace those who are retiring so much as take their place in the side, and hopefully with time will be able to keep our Cricket team at the top of the totem pole. LOL I have always believed that his personal life is his business and as long as he is playing his best for Australia, that is all that is required. He is not the first international sports person who has had a colourful personal life, but for Shane Warne it was a case of all of this is out there for the world to see. I know of others in the past who were the same as Warnie but in those days there were no digital cameras, camcorders, camera phones etc so they didn't get the media attention. I hope that he has a very successful retirement, is able to spend a lot of time with his children and come to some sort of good relationship with his ex-wife Simone.

I think that he has done a lot for the sport of cricket, but it will be good to give some other players a go. Stuart MacGill is far better against the English than Warnie, but never seems to get a go. Perhaps now he and some of the others will get a chance. Good luck for the future Warnie. Will you still play County Cricket in England, and for the state of Victoria in other stuff. Maybe you and Simone can get back together, now you are not having that pressure on you as much.

yes he is remarkable cricketer but to call him best cricketer of all times is a bit too much.i dont know who is all time best because you got to know all cricketers of all times even if you take bbowling his 699 wickets came from 143 tests where murali has 671 from 110 matches he will go past it. no doubt he is one of top notch of all times
