Shenzhen girl Xu Mengqi, dubbed "Little Beethoven," who lost her hearing at 2 after suffering from high fever, will perform at a Christmas Eve concert at Citizens' Center. She will be joined by other child musicians from Hong Kong, Shanghai and Shenzhen, at the concert organized by Futian District Bureau of Culture. Most of the child musicians have won international awards abroad, including 9-year-old Xu, who started playing the piano at the age of 5 and has since won prizes in many piano contests in Shenzhen. She was the only contestant to win full marks from all judges at the 2005 Schumann International Youth Piano Contest yet can only hear by wearing a powerful hearing aid.
