Wu Si, 11, has signed up for the British Summer Camp sponsored by the Shenzhen Daily because she wants to learn to be independent. A student at Overseas Chinese Town Primary School, Wu said she has been coddled since childhood. “I’ve never tried to be independent before,” she said. “A classmate even once called me ‘Miss Delicacy’ in a composition. I want to take this opportunity to overcome my shortcomings and learn to be independent.”
