SHENZHEN doctor Yao Xiaoming transplanted the last piece of his mother’s corneas into the left eye of a girl from a remote village in Hunan Province yesterday. Long Xiangju, 15, was the last of the eight people who have received a piece of cornea from Yao’s mother Ding Jianfen. Ding donated her corneas to the Shenzhen eye bank before she passed away Sept. 17. “The operation is a complete success,” Yao told the Shenzhen Daily after completing the transplant.
