I have a nine year old dog who is has started to lose controll of her bladder. Every time she lays down she pees it doesn't matter where she is. The vet gave her some pills but it cost $40 every other month. It's so frustrating because if we forget to give her a pill she ends up peeing on the furniture and the carpet. Would you get ride of a dog with such a problem.

Well I would try to find another alternative first. Can you keep her outside in a pen? or do you have a room that is not carpeted. I think you have to do something or she will ruin your carpet and furniture.

I would hate to leave her outside all the time. It gets too cold at night. She's always been an indoor dog. The only room not carpeted or doesn't have hard wood is the kitchen. We've tried to gate her in there but she learned to jump the gate!!

I'm perhaps a little harsh in this area, but I would either put her outside or in your garage or one of those dog igloos ... because it is a dog and they were made to live outside (that's why they have fur). Or I would put her down. I can think of better ways to spend $240 a year ... not to mention what you would save on dog food and carpet cleaner!
