I think they will. I think that so many things are going to be dependent upon them and one day there is going to be some kind of virus that causes a big malfunction and is going to lead to the world's demise. What do you think?

Yeh - sorry this is an old discussion but my new opinion is: Yes, Of course. It is impssible not to see it coming. 1 Technology is now able to be fully communicative e.g universal remote. 2 Robots and Artificial Intelligence are more comprehensive- & less dependant on humans. 3 Many more people are losing jobs to computers, software innovations & Robots of course factories are prime in this I think we could prepare for sometime like that (providd there isn't a world war) in about 30 years Mebbe less!

To be honest, I don't really see any practical use for robots except in industrial applications. If you think there are going to be robot domestic servants, etc, then you will probably be wrong. Why make a machine in a man's image and have it take up as much space as a human being. If there are a lot of robots in the future, they won't be human-like, but more like the kinds they use to make cars. And, even those robots need a human being to be able to operate and adjust it. I think computers are the thing that people will be dependent on.
