I also have high blood pressure,I take medicines to lower it,my sister is trying to get me to give up the medicine.she said that she gave her up,because the medicines are just a crutch and that they actually bring on other sickness, she said she is taking natural herbs and that her blood pressure is lower and so is her cholesterol. I am happy for her,but I am afraid to take that chance,I take 3 pills a day for my blood pressure. If you were in my shoes would you stop taking the presribed medicines to try natural herbs????????????

You can stop changing you medicines, but be sure to change your lifestyle.. Eat a lot of fruits and vegetables, as much as possible resist of eating fatty foods, and seldom eat meat. Try to exercise, at least 3 times a week (1-2 hrs).. A big factor for high blood is lack of sleep. Though a lot of people might think that lack of sleep may help them stay fit and/or lower blood pressure... The truth is it triggers our blood to go high. At least try to sleep 8 hours/day, thats totally enough for the day. Lastly, try to drink a lot of water, water helps stabilize and cleanses our system. It does help in reducing high blood pressure. With regards to natural herbs, there are a lot of it on stores, though there are a lot of it, but most are fake. It is much better to take a medicine prescribe by doctors that taking natural herb from a friend.

High blood pressure is a dangerous illness associated with stress and food intake. To control blood pressure from rising, control the intake of salt. It has been proven that patients should avoid eating tapioca leaves (in malay we call in pucuk ubi) and pucuk manis (i don't know what this is called in english). Both these two substance is dangerous to high blood pressure patients.

I dont think you should try natural herbs without consulting your doctor in the first place. Secondly, changing from medicines to natural herbs all of a sudden might result in other reactions related to your blood pressure such as sudden increase or decrease of it. Therefore, it is wise to consult your doctor as well as your herbalist before making any changes in your daily medication. Hope my suggestion is of good use to you.

I do not have high blood pressure, Mine is running pretty normal right now. Up until last year, my blood pressure was actually pretty low. I would not stop taking blood pressure medicine. Please consult your doctor before making any changes to medicines you take. You could endanger your health if you stop taking the medicine!

I was suffering from acute high blood pressure since last 30 years,I was taking 4 tabletsa day and still my bp was not coming down to the required value.then, i started on natural herbs and that did give some benefits but not again to the desired level. Then,I stuck a great way to cure my blood pressure.and that was through yoga/pranayama techniques,These are simple breathing exercises and are to be done in the morning hours with empty stomach. There are total 8 types of such breathing exercises and you will be able to fully cure your high bp within maximum 3 months with an investment of only20 minutes a day.The details on these exercises can be had from my articles on web site www.associatedcontent.com in health and wellness section.I am myself a yoga and pranayam teacher and have cured high bp in almost all 1005 cases without any exception. And that too without any side effects of the medicines.

I would definately not stop taking the medication without a doctor's advice. You are risking stroke or heart attack if you do. I would prefer to risk the tablets than the effects of high blood pressure. I'm glad your sister is doing well but don't take the risk. (I am also on tablets for hypertension and it has brought my blood pressure down from a dangerous level to a manageable one)

I have same case as yours, and I'm already tired of taking medicines, but I'm afraid to stop taking it because the Doctor said it is already for a lifetime.Sometimes eating with cholesterol foods cannot be avoided,I know the source of my hypertension and I'm hoping I could also try some herbal medication.

I think you you should not stop taking medicines because if your BP doesn't get normal then it can adversaly affect your other organs of the body. Even my mom tales four medicines daily and she is absolutely fine.I have seen people taking medicines for high blood pressure regularly since past twenty five - thirty years and leading a perfectly normal life. But one should do yoga and meditation to become healthier.

high blood pressure - High blood pressure, sometimes called hypertension, means high pressure (tension) in the arteries. It does not mean excess emotional stress, though doctors’ believe that stress might contribute to high blood pressure over a longer period of time.
f necessary, high blood pressure can be treated with a range of different medicines, including: * Beta-blockers, which make the heart beat more slowly and less strongly. They work by blocking the action of nerves supplying the heart that release a chemical called noradrenaline. This helps to control the rhythm and force of heart muscle movement. They also block a hormone called adrenaline (a chemical carried in the blood) which is similar to noradrenaline. * Diuretics, which work in the kidneys to make you pass urine more often and get rid of excess fluid. * Calcium-channel blockers, which relax arterial blood vessels making them less narrow. These lower the resistance to blood flow, allowing blood to flow more easily. They work by preventing calcium from entering the muscles in blood vessels because calcium is important in narrowing down blood vessels. * ACE inhibitors and angiotensin II antagonists, which in general relax the blood vessels. They do this by preventing a hormone called angiotensin II from working, either by preventing its production or blocking its action. Like other hormones, angiotensin II is an active chemical signal in the blood. It controls the function of many organs or systems including the narrowing of blood vessels and prevents the kidneys from getting rid of excess fluid. Doctors believe that angiotensin II is involved as one of the causes of high blood pressure. It is also important to follow any lifestyle instructions that your doctor has given to you, like trying to give up smoking, reducing your weight, doing more exercise and eating a healthy diet. When these and other risk factors are present together with high blood pressure, then this means there is even higher risk of serious disease. It is also important to continue taking any medications you have been given, even if you feel normal.
