Is the advancement of technology considered a threat to humanity?

Picture this out... We are inventing things that will make our life easier. But inspite of this, our life span is lessening and result to be threatened. Today there are many cars and people can no longer have the time to walk and exercise their bodies, even if the place is just a distance to walk they evetually ride. And another thing is the pollution it causes to our environment, it depletes the ozone layer. What do you think? If you agree with me can site instances? If not, then why?
