Freedom of Religion: Being sworn in using the Qur'an

I find as the worst example of bigotry US Republican Rep. Virgil Goode statement against the first Muslim congressman taking oath using the Qur'an. I thought people are supposed to respect the faiths of their colleagues to co-exist in a democratic and land-of-the-free set-up! The reason advanced by Goode do not make sense to me and I think they sound more provocative to Minnesota Rep. Keith Ellison, the first Muslim elected to Congress, and people of this faith. It is shameful that a person of Goode's standing should stereotype all and sundry. I believe people should take oath using the scripture books they believe in, or are their standard of religious oath, be they the Bible, Torah, Qur'an, etc. What do others think?
