It is benefiting in a way, but in another way hurting it because small buisnesses are being shut down.

The book, Take This Job and Ship It, by Senator Byron Dorgan, dedicates a whole chapter (the book has a total of 7 chapters)in how Wal-Mart hurts not just communities, but also American industry. It is a good read and I highly recommend it.

A little bit of both, family businesses that have been around for years a being destroyed but on the flip side there are more job opportunities
