What makes people look younger physically at their older age and vice versa?

I have this friend of mine who i compared to myself looks very younger physically at the level of our age. He looks 4-5 years youger tahn me at his physically appearance and among our batch he is truly young. When we ask him about his secret he just say, "I don't mind problems". How can you explain this phenomenon, does problem makes people old easily?
