Are all soaps good for skin?

Our ancestors never used chemical soaps. But in these days we can hardly think of anything but chemical-based soaps. Is it good or bad? What do you feel? Do you have any additional information to share with us on soaps?

I find that some are harsh and dry out my skin. In bar soap I mainly use Dove or Ivory. In body washes I use Caress. My hubby lives Lever 2000 and Irish Spring- of course those are the ones that dry out my skin.

I have psoriasis so I have to be very careful what I use on my skin. I am currently using goats milk soap and it is quite good on my sensitive skin. A lot of things affect my psoriasis and make it more aggressive and sore.

Chemical soaps are poisonous. They don't have ingredients of that kind. The so called herbals also have chemicals in them. Problem comes to your hair or skin only from the water you use to bath. The characters of water affect the performance of soap too. "Happy BATH day to you.........."

Can you explain, how can we avoid the problem caused by water?

Our ancestors definitely did use chemical soaps. They used lye which is extremely strong. If they got the wrong mixture of lye and fat (yes fat) it would burn their skin when they washed.

Yah, lie being a strong solution of sodium or otassium hydroxide, may cause a burn, true.

I never use any chemicals like soap, and or creams to my face and people comment all the time how good my skin looks. I am 50, but they normally take 10 years of my age. So my comment is "no it is no good".

In m experience I haven't yet found a soap that is bad for my skin. I used different kinds of soap through the years and they're all been good to my skin.

soaps are chemical. They are sodium salts of fatty acids.Soaps are allergic to a few people. They may use soft soaps.Ancestors were using natural produts such as leaves of trees or softened bark of some trees or soyabeans powder and so on.All these contain chemicals to a small extend and they clean our skin and hair. They are thought to be harmless. Use of natural produts instead of soap require a lot of time and they are not readily available in the market.

Because of allergies, I can only use cheep dish liquid on my skin and hair and have NEVER had a problem with it! Now I prefer it to any soap! (Really gets you sparkling clean)!!!!

No, nothing at all, except for those who are allergic to soap. I grew up using soap for bathing and still using it until now, but very few times when i'm up to feeling like using it. I now mostly use Body wash because I like their different scent and very easy to use.

I doubt so.. they are not all good. It is better to have the ones that are vegetable or fruit based, this is more subtle to the skin or perhaps try something not perfumed.

sometimes its not the soap.it could a combination of the water temp.and soap.if you use hot water with a soap that has no oil it will dry your skin.

I think it just depends on the particular soap. Some are good and some are bad. I use body washes that make my skin look and feel wonderful! I wouldn't be without them!

i don't have any iddtional information but i know that these chemical soaps are harmful for us and we should be aware of this. So now before selecting any soap we should see it chemical contents.

Our ancestors made soap out of ashes and lye. I think modern soaps have to have that beat.
