hello, I feel Java is the best than .net or any other technology, because Java is platform independent, its run on any operating system but .net only works in windows environment. Java is like piece of cake, it has many features like multi threading, compilation features. I have done Sun Java, i have learnt upto EJB, so I feel java is 2 good n best.

No doubt that Java is better, but now a days, Dot Net is also getting more popularity, and most of the companies started using Dotnet because of its Rapid Application Development feature. Java Development is a little bit more expensive as we need to pay Java Programmers well, but Dot Net programmers are available everywhere and we can find one very easily. Java is better, if we plan for a software which needs to be deployed in multiple Operating Systems. Also only Java can handle huge number of requests / threads when used as Web Application. Dotnet hangs or goes down in performance when used for high-traffic intensive web applications.

i prefer dotnet rather java bcoz every thing will be under one tree ,in java if you want to work on servlets you have to install software for it to use beans another software but in dotnet only visual studio is needed to handle all the technologies.java is expensive compared to dotnet thats why java people are paid more and we can use 40+ languages in dotnet

I prefer .Net more then Java. But when i first learned the java. i was fan of java but then i come to know some disadvantages in java & advantages in .Net then i switched to .Net. Offense i appreciate the beauty of java but still that language is not for me. I prefer .Net (C#)

java is definitely better than dot net... 1. java is free language whereas the dot net is much expensive 2. java is more popular than dot net 3. you get more help and documentation on java than dot net 4. java is an open standard whereas the dot net is proprietary of microsoft 5. there is more code written in java which cannot be instantly changed to dot net, so java rules **the only good point of dot net is its interoperability feature over java.. which doesnt combine with too many languages as dot net does.. **the other features of endurance of dot net like platform independence are available in java also and that too in a better form..

I think learning Java is better than dotNet because it is true that dotNet is proprietary to Microsoft platform; whereas Java can be run on differnt platfrom without the need of recompiling the source program.

It depends on what you want. I think JAVA is better when you don't know which OS your client/user has, though more slower. .NET has it's pros also and is becoming a widely used language. The trick is to know when to use each ;) (personally I'm more of a JAVA person ^-^)
