Outrageous hotel casino rates!

I just checked the rates for Harrah's North Kansas City and Ameristar, for one night for 2 adults (my fiance and I, we're thinking of going to the hotel for his birthday in the end of March). It's $150/room! For Ameristar, whether we get 2 queens or 1 king, it's $150, SHEESH. Harrah's is SLIGHTLY better. For a King bed or 2 doubles, it's TOTAL PRICE: $84.22. Anyone know of any good hotels (& please in a good area, a safe place to stay in the city), for reasonable rates???
