is lying good?

i am not sure if lying is good or bad.
i was having only one month holiday and was in the search of job but wherever i told it they denied the job.
hence at a later stage i told that i have left studies and then finally got a job.
do u think what i did is good?

Lying is only good when you're trying to protect the person's feelings.
