OS-Operating System.It is a software which acts as an interface between the user and the hardware.The user cannot communicate directly with the system.but it is through the shell or core of OS.Depanding on users it is Single user os or multi user OS.Depending on the interface it is CUI or GUI.

It really denpends on what you are talking about if it is computer I would say operating system.If it were the navy I would say operations specialist.It really depends.
