my rotweiler named cujo was used to be pampered and well taken care of.But after i gave birth w/c was six months ago, me and my husband has not taken care of him very much.we don't let him inside the hourse anymore, and lately i notice that he lost weight,he started to get alergies and the worst thing is he has been scratching them with his looong nails(since we cldnt find time to walk him),and he isnt as excited as before when he sees us. Lately though my husbands walks him at night since that's the only time he has. I don't wana give him away bec i love him. I always wonder how other families out there was able to manage having a baby and at the same time take good care of their dog. I can't let my dog go near my baby as others advised me since rotweilers might get crazy and attack my baby. any advise?

I believe that it was a mistake to send your dog outside when the newborn arrived at your home. Perhaps it would have been better if your dog has been kept outside in the first place. Your dog might see your newborn as a rival, a rival for attention. My theory is that dogs and newborn do not mix very well, whatever the breed. A rotweiller is a sturdy working dog so I agree that yours is a wise decision not to allow your dog to go near your child. Just try to give more attention to your dog whenever possible.
