I want to visit Greece mid 2007. Just wondering what would be the best and cheapest way to get around. Would i be best taking public transport- and if so how much would it cost and how easy is it to use?

hi im from greece and im sorry to disappoint you but public transport in greece is a really big joke. it has nothing to do with the public transport you know in your country. only in the capital athens there is something "like" public transport. nowhere else. and athens is not really good for tourism. better visit some islands instead and enjoy the sun and the sea. sofia

I'm from Greece too and I agree that the public transportations are a little hm... random :P

If you travel on the mainland you can either use the train or coaches. None of them are really costly and they are reliable and efficient. If you travel to the islands use the ferries as already said. You can also fly to almost anywhere in Greece but it would cost you average 100 euros to each destination (from Athens). On the other hand you will be there in 30-45 minutes. The choice is yours
