Depo the birth control shot

Has this shot effected anyone in a major way? I have lost 17lbs and lost a good bit of my hair. I loose a handful of hair when i wash it and when I blow dry it as well. I thought the side effect were suposed to be mild not drastic. I would like to know if the shot is effecting any one else as much as me?

I have never tried the shot but my friend was on it and it was making here hair fall out also so she quit usuing it she has her tubes tied so she doesn't have to worry anymore LOL

I don't think i would regret it at all but i might not have a fiance anymore :(

How long have you been on the shot? Have you called your doctor? How soon after the shot did these side effects occur?
I'd suggest calling your doctor asap! These do not sound normal.

The hair thinning and loss is quite common, but it sounds as if you are losing a lot of hair. The weight loss is puzzling, though. If there is any change in weight, it is generally a sharp increase in weight. Has anything else changed? Any other new medications? Any change in your diet? If not, you should probably call your doctor; they might want to check some blood work for your thyroid functioning.
