Are IITs great or just a hype???

I was surfing da net for universities when I read many articles in which quite a few Indians said that IITs were just a hype, i got confused and need u guys and gals to tell me ur views or especially ur experiences.......

IIT is not a hype. It's great. IIT will transform India and it has mainly been a great force in making the image that India is technologically advanced. More people know about India now. They have changed our image and will continue doing so.

IIts are the greatest instis in India... They give an environment so that a students acquires all he needs to have an alround development..... Its cool and a superb everlasting experience to study in IIT.... The gr8ness of IITs is not just a hype... Standard of JEE itself says it...

Look I have not studied at IIT, but it is dream of every student of india to study at IIT. It is great educational institute imparting technical knowledge to students and serving our country in a great way.

well..i am doing my btech in iit madras..and i can tell u iit is not a hype..the life here is great!!..u learn to be self dependent and to rely on ur own caliber..u learn to teach urself unlike other institutes where u are spoon fed!!!..iit has a trade mark way..it gives the student total frredom and hence gives the student to grow alroundedly..it is really worth the effort u put to get thru..
