can i earn working online?

hii people i am 20 year old female doing graduation....i want to know if working online really work? i paid on two websites and they looked like they are genuine, i am being flooded with too many mails from different companies i subcribe on them and no one offers any work and if they do its damn confusing, and few of them even want to be paid.. tell me folks if i was reach enough to pay on all websites why would i be here? forgot to mention i reside in india, is it cos of that? plz help
