Would you want Wal-Mart in your hometown?

My small community had a huge warehouse company go bankrupt a few years ago and recently demolished their old crumbling complex. Then word got around that Wal-Mart is interested in buying the real estate. The community association has called a town meeting in January to decide whether to sell the land. This is creating quite a panic as many have seen the outcome of other small communities lose their downtowns and smaller stores to this giant. On the other hand, it would bring in more people to our town to stop at these stores and give us a bigger tax income as well as jobs. What do you think?

We have a Wal-Mart in town already and plans for that one to be moved to a new location in town and become a Super Wal-Mart. There have been quite a few protests and the building has been delayed as a result but I'm fine with it if if offers residents lower prices. Our local economy is bad anyway, and other restaurants and stores have closed without the push from Wal-Mart
