What is the difference between' intution ' and ' guess work ' ?

What is the difference between ' intution ' and ' guess work '? Under what circumstances, one is tempted to base his/her decision merely on intution?

To me intuition is like acting from your gut.... It is an impulse feeling to do something or say something. Guess work involves a certain level of conscious reasoning and is not as spontaneous. Intuition works on a more subconscious level......
