Should tobacco be illegal?

I am sure some people will be upset at the mere though of this. However, for a long time I have felt that tobacco should be illegal like marijuana. It is the only product that if it is used as intended will kill. It drives up health care costs for everyone and kills many, many people. Why is it legal?
