Great thought. Currently I dont have one. After this discussion, may be I will definitely think about this and go for buying one immediately for my home. I definitely agree that we should be prepared for all the bad situations in the life.

We are fire safety conscious but we do not have any fire extinguisher at home for most of the time, when it's not used, you'll find the same empty that when there's fire, just the same you can't use it. Our place is not a fire-hazard and hopefully, no fire will occur.

We have one under our kitchen sink. Our homeowners insurance requires it.

I now have 2 of them. I used to keep it in a hall closet, buy my brother recently pointed out that it should be kept by the exit door- actually one at every exit door. If it's somewhere where you have to go back into the house to get it, you could be in danger of getting blocked in by fire. When you have a fire, you should always head for the nearest exit, no matter what or how containable the fire seems. Only when you are at the exit (where the extinguisher is) can you make a judgement as to whether or not it is safe to attempt to put out the fire. This way you are sure to get out of the house. Remember, the house and its contents can be replaced; life cannot. Let the firemen be the heroes.

most definitely!! You have to have one and teach your kids where you keep it and how to use it in case a fire where you can't get to the fire extinguisher. Now let's see where I put that thing...
