Legal System VS Deadbeat Parent

A man with two families was put in jail for one year for not paying his child support. I agree that he should be punished ... but ... wouldn't it have been better for the Legal System to put this man on a workforce program during the day and then put him in jail at night away from his two family's instead of putting him in jail for one year where both families are suffering without income?
Work by day ... be jailed by night so all those kids don't suffer financially ... do you agree?

You could have something there. It seems to be the way that the judicial system works in this state though ... what happens here is the judicial system puts deadbeat parents in jail. In the meantime the children suffer by losing their homes, end up on welfare, etc ... the judicial system doesn't seem have any thought about what happens to the children while a parent is in jail ... what a shame
Thanks for responding ;-)

What most likely happened to this guy was that he had been sent to a workforce program, but he did not go when he was supposed to. So, the next plan was to put him in jail.
To me, you would think that they would make them go to work while they are in jail, and then all of the money that they make goes to the child support that he is behind on and none will go to him. This would be the better route... you would think. Right?
